To All Township Residents:

Approximately 3 miles of County Road (County State Aid Highway) #4 runs through our Town from about Red Oak Road to the Breezy Point City Limits.  The road project will include a total re-design and rebuild from Lakeshore Drive in Breezy Point to County Road 18. This is a State Aid highway and is therefore subject to State standards regarding it's speed limit, signing and construction.

Recently, Crow Wing County announced the proposed schedule for the completion of this project:

The construction is happening now and will continue through the summer and fall and until weather prohibits.  It is possible that the final bituminous will be applied in 2011.

The cost of the construction project was estimated to be between 3.1 and 3.8 million dollars but the winning bid came at $2.72 million, a savings of at least $350,000.

The roadway was designed to 45 MPH specifications and a speed study will be requested by the County when the new road is finished.

The Town board intends to vigorously defend the wishes of it's residents when asked to provide comment on this proposed project.  In order to do that, we need your opinion and suggestions. If you have an opinion regarding the reconstruction project, please use this link to send us an e-mail and let us know how you feel about this important road issue.

The project engineer, Ron Bray, can be contacted at rbray@wsbeng.com or at 763 287-7177.
