MONTHLY MEETING
9-12-2005

The regular monthly meeting for the Pelican Town Board was called to order by chairman Bruce Galles. Present: Bruce Galles, Ted Rice, Robert Olson, Suzanne Goerges and Shirley Wallin. Present from Breezy Point Police Dept.: Joe Garcia.

Minutes of August meeting were reviewed, B. Olson made a motion to accept minutes seconded by T. Rice, motion carried.

Treasurers report given for July: Opening Balance: $234,046.50, Receipts: $32,630.11, Disbursements: $3,269.39, Ending Balance: $263,406.76, Checkbook Blance: $276.55, Savings Balance: $163,130.21, CD Balance: $100,000.00, All Funds Balance: $263,406.76. B. Olson made a motion to accept Treasurers report, seconded by T. Rice, motion carried.  Treasurers report given for August: Opening Balance: $263,406.76, Receipts: $245.77, Disbursements: $29,430.11, Ending Balance: $234,222.42, Checkbook Balance: $346.44, Savings Balance: $133,875.98, CD Balance: $100,000.00, All Funds Balance:$234,222.42. B. Olson made a motion to accept Treasurers report, seconded by T. Rice, motion carried.

POLICE REPORT: Joe Garcia was present from the Breezy Point Police Dept. he said there were 59 calls in July and 52 calls in August.  He said he received a complaint about a big trailer parked up on the road on Wallins S Shore Dr. Joe will monitor this so it doesn’t become a major problem and town board will deal with it at that time.

Bills to be paid were presented. T. Rice made a motion to pay all bills, seconded by B. Olson, motion carried.

CORRESPONDENCE: B. Olson made a motion to relinquish the Board of Equalization to the County, seconded by B. Galles, motion carried. B. Galles made a motion to amend first motion to exercise the option to review this in 3 years, seconded by T. Rice, motion carried.
Clerk will contact the road maintenance person to see if he would be interested in attending the Fall Maintenance Expo in St. Cloud, Oct. 5th & 6th. B. Galles made a motion to ask Tony Loberg to attend the Fall Maintenance Expo and pay per diem of $125.00 per day which is for his time + 2 meals and will pick up Expo cost, lodging bill and mileage @ $.48 ½ a mile, seconded by B. Olson, motion carried.

ROAD REPORT: T. Rice reported that we are pretty much done with the mowing. Did get permission to cut the trees on Moore’s land,  will be 3/10 mile to push up stumps & brush from Moore’s to corner, T. Rice estimated that this should cost around $1,000.00 to do , he will contact Holmvig & Langenbau for bids. Still delays on DNR land by public access.  Anderson Brothers still need to work on curves on Sunset Valley Rd and on Beaver Dam Rd. we need to get these 2 projects done this fall.

COMMITTEE REPORTS: none

ZONING: received request from Dunkley on Upper Cullen to install concrete boat ramp. B. Galles made a motion to respond to Planning & Zoning that we recommend no other boat launching, docking or mooring be allowed and confine the boat launching only to the applicant, seconded by T. Rice, motion carried.

OLD BUSINESS: none

Per Treasurers request, T. Rice made a motion to transfer $6,660.65 from Road & Bridge Fund into Fire Fund, seconded by B. Galles, motion carried.

Tentative date for November meeting will be November 21st, more discussion at October meeting.

Next meeting date October 3, 2005 7:30 PM.
