APRIL 12, 2004

The regular meeting of the Pelican Town Board was called to order by Chairman B. Galles. Present: Bruce Galles, Ted Rice, John C Johnson, Suzanne Goerges and Shirley Wallin. Also present: Randy Roach (Mission Fire Dept.) Aimee Jambor, Clay Jambor, John Jambor Jr., Lonny Thomas. Dr. Jack Grabow, Gloria Grabow, Jack Weaver, John Harvey.

Eric from the Breezy Point Police Dept. handed out his monthly report and gave a brief report. A request was asked of him if we could put up a sign “ Caution Children at Play”  on Beaver Dam Dr., otherwise everything else running smoothly.

B. Galles stated to those in attendance about the Berm on Pelican Beach Road that the townships position is not to do anything about the easement issue as that is a civil case. We are only interested in addressing the berm on the township right-of-way.  Our interm attorney is Paul Sandelin, being our regular township attorney Tom Borden is representing one of the parties in the dispute.  Randy Roach Fire Chief from the Mission Fire Dept. was present to say that at the present time they cannot get their fire trucks in on the other 2 alternate routes as 1 is way to soft and the other they cannot make the turn. Will probably need to do some brushing anyway on the route that they usually had taken before the berm was put in.  Much discussion was held.  B. Galles will refer to our counsel as to what action we will take.  J. Johnson made a motion that we refer to our counsel that J. Harvey has violated 2 statues and that it is an illegal berm & if our counsel agrees will order J. Harvey to remove the berm, seconded by T. Rice, motion carried unanimously.

Minutes of the March meeting were reviewed, J. Johnson made a motion to approve minutes following conference between Clerk and Chair, which the minutes will be reviewed and finalized for corrections, seconded by Rice, motion carried.

Treasurers report: Opening Balance: $161,259.13, Receipts: $4970.43, Disbursements: $9,052.50, Ending Balance: $157,177.06, Checkbook Balance: $128.63, Savings Balance: $157,048.43, All Funds Balance: $157,177.06.  B. Galles made a motion to approve Treasurers report, seconded by T. Rice, motion carried.

B. Galles asked what the board thought about when any of the town board was involved in special projects other than the normal month to month township duties, if we should get paid extra or not. He asked for the board members to think about it.
